Leave the car at the carpark of Belggio Superiore town hall in Santa Croce and start walking towards Bivedo along a small road heading south from the town hall. Continue on this road uphill following the Stations of the Cross towards east. Cross the village of Bivedo until you reach the SAT 465 sign. Here, the road becomes narrower and slightly steeper bordering the fields dotted with walnut and mulberry trees and few rural homesteads scattered around. This narrow road is flanked on one side by dry-walls and on the other by granite slabs stuck vertically into the ground. This system was used to mark the borders of private land in the old days. En-route you will see, rising on the south-east corner, Cima Sèra, on the north-east Monte S. Martino, on the east Val Marcia and at the bottom of the valley the villages of Bleggio and Lomaso. The SAT 465 continues uphill to the right in the direction of “Tre Vie”; follow instead the path signposted SAT 465/B, also known as “Via Piana”, along a slight slope. Walk through a forest of fir trees and shrubs and reach shortly after “La Guarda”. Here, an imposing granite monument, “El Sass de Santa Cros”, dominates the vast grassland standing as a tribute to the thaumaturgical cross. Make your way back descending the SAT 465/B path until you reach Vergonzo. Here, you can admire the ruins of Castel Restor. With the castle on your right and the village of Vergonzo on your left, continue towards Duvredo. Before reaching the bridge over Rio Tanfurin, leave the SAT 465/B and follow the signs to Santa Croce on the right after the bridge.
From Ponte Arche/Comano Terme continue along Bleggio SP (provincial road) until you reach Santa Croce (5 km).

You need to wear the right clothing and take the proper gear when you go hiking in the mountains. Even on relatively short easy outings make sure to take all you need so you don't run into trouble if things take an unexpected turn, for example a storm blows up or you have a sudden drop in energy levels.
What should you take when you go on a hike?
Your rucksack (for a day trip a 25/30L capacity should do) should contain:
Make sure you're wearing the right footwear for the trail and season. The going can get rough and rocky underfoot and a pair of hiking boots will protect you from sprains. When wet, a grassy slope, rocky slab or steep trail can be dangerous unless you are wearing the proper footwear.
And finally... don't forget to bring your camera! You'll need it to capture the stunning views you come across all over Garda Trentino. And if you like, you can share your memories with us at #GardaTrentino.
